André 'SaxMan' Brown - The Story So Far...
From the age of 5 André was already playing music by ear on his recorder. Age ten he progressed on to the Alto Sax. By fifteen he had completed his formal music exams, passed Grade 8 with distinction, and joined the National Youth Jazz Orchestra.
Alongside his classical training André developed a strong gospel influenced, soulful jazz sound, leading to numerous appearances at weddings & church events including Festival of Life and KICC's I.G.O.C. the two largest Gospel events in the UK; the latter being broadcast around the world.
André has been featured with the UK's top emerging and established Gospel Artists including neo soul RnB group Four Kornerz, Kingsway Recording Artist Noel Robinson and most recently with the LCGC (London Community Gospel Choir) at the Jazz Café, the Royal Albert Hall & on BBC1's Songs of Praise.
The 'SaxMan' can also be spotted delivering his charismatic vibe and startling performances in some of London?s top Mayfair clubs with a live band or pitting his skills against the DJ. Appearances include Café de Paris, China White, Capisce, Pangaea, Aura, Umbuba, 10rooms, Yatra and Smollensky's on the Strand?
In early 2006 André was invited into the newest incarnation of the Tomorrow's Warriors band and can be seen performing with them at the Spice of Life (6 Moor St, W1D 5NA) between 1-4pm every last Sunday of the Month.
At 22, André has over 4 years teaching experience and emphasizes the importance of understanding theory and practical musicianship.
André is sharing the sounds of uplifting, soul moving, music with people from every walk of life.
